CountMeIn

The plan happens when enough people are in.

Set a minimum, share the link, and everyone commits with a card. Nobody is charged unless enough people are in. Free for organizers.

Example event

Minimum
8 people
Spot
$40
Deadline

How it works

01

Post a plan

Post one plan, or a few options for the group to vote on. No card needed to vote. Splitting a house or venue? The price per person drops as more people join.

02

Save a card

The option that wins opens for commits. Each person saves a card. Nothing is charged yet.

Payments by Stripe.

03

Charged only if it fills

When the minimum is reached, everyone's card is charged at once. If the deadline passes first, nobody is charged.

04

The organizer is paid at the close

Spots stay open until the deadline, or 14 days after the minimum is reached, whichever is sooner. The organizer is paid when commits close. If you split a fixed total and more people joined, early payers get the difference back.

Free for organizers. No setup fees and no monthly plan.

On a paid event, the person who commits pays a 5% service fee (less for regular organizers) on top of the spot, plus card processing, so the organizer receives the full spot price.

A $40 spot

$40 + $2.00 service fee (5%) + $1.56 processing = $43.56

That is the checkout total with the current service fee. The organizer gets $40.

A family reunion

Someone rents a house and posts that one plan, or a few dates for the family to vote on. No card is needed to vote. They set a minimum and share the link. Everyone who is in saves a card. If the minimum is reached, the cards are charged. If the house is a fixed total and more people join, the price per person drops and early payers get the difference back. If the deadline passes first, nobody is charged.

Questions

When am I charged?

When the minimum is reached, every saved card is charged at once. If the deadline passes first, nobody is charged. Voting does not ask for a card.

Can I drop out?

There are no refunds after the minimum is reached, unless the event is cancelled. If you can't go, the organizer can approve someone to take your spot. Once that person pays, you get back your ticket and the service fee. Card processing is not refunded. On a $40 spot, that's $42.00 back of $43.56.

What if a card fails?

If a card is declined when the minimum is reached, that person has 48 hours to pay another way. On a split-cost event, spots stay open, so new people can join and fill the gap. If there are still not enough paid spots when that window ends, everyone who was charged is refunded in full.

What does a free event cost?

3 free, then $5 each. Your first 3 free events (no ticket price) cost nothing. After that, each one costs $5. On a paid event, the person who commits pays a 5% service fee on top of the spot, and the organizer pays nothing.

Who holds the money?

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see your full card number. Organizers are paid through Stripe Connect when commits close. CountMeIn is US-only for now.

Can the price go up after I commit?

Only before the minimum is reached. If the organizer raises it, everyone gets 72 hours to confirm. Anyone who doesn't is dropped and not charged.
